Have you ever heard the following prayer?

Were you taught the following prayer that is found in Matthew 6:9-:13 when you were a child?

“9 Pray then like this:

“Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name.[a]
10 Your kingdom come,
your will be done,[b]
on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread,[c]
12 and forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.” Matthew 6:9-:13 (English Standard Version of The HOLY BIBLE)

Have you thought that this prayer is just a simple little prayer that is to be taught to young children because it is short and can be easily taught to young children but you have never really considered this to be a prayer that is to be prayed by older and or more mature followers of JESUS CHRIST?

Well, I invite you to think again. This is a powerful model prayer.

When you pray these scriptures,

1) You come into GOD’S PRESENCE with praise
2) You ask for GOD’S Will to be done on earth
3) You ask for GOD’S provision
4) You ask for forgiveness
5) You acknowledge the sovereignty of GOD and express your dependence on GOD
6) You ask for GOD’S protection
7) You ask for GOD’S direction

This is a short but powerful prayer. It is a prayer that can be prayed by both those who are beginning their prayer adventures with GOD and those who have navigated the roads of prayer for greater lengths of time.
